This presentation will discuss the new partnership between Family Initiative and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. This collaboration is designed to improve law enforcement interactions for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities by providing real-time support. Representatives from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office\, including deputies and professional staff\, will be onsite to assist families with registering for the voluntary Special Persons Registry Database. This helps ensure deputies have important information to better support their loved ones in the event of an emergency. \nThis session will also be livestreamed on Facebook.

You want what all parents want for their kids – an opportunity for them to fit in\, progress\, make friends and be happy. \nUnfortunately\, this area – the socialization of your children – is the area least addressed by the government and their funding streams. \nFortunately\, at Family Initiative\, we recognize and appreciate these hopes and wishes and have made social skills a priority. This inspired the creation of one of our most innovative programs – the Autism Spectrum Playgroup – where social skills development receives our utmost attention. \nSocial Skills Playgroups happen each Saturday from 1-4 p.m. Fee per group is $20. Registration at check-in.
