Speaker Series: Hurricane & Emergency Preparedness

Join us for this month’s Parent Group Speaker Series highlighting hurricane preparedness, featuring local experts discussing emergency planning and storm resources for families in our community.

Meteorologist Andrew Shipotofsky will be discussing the 2026 WINK News Hurricane Preparedness Guide and hurricane forecast. Chief Schultz will highlight individual preparedness, shelter expectations, evacuation zones and flood zones. Ruth Rodrigues will discuss inclusive emergency preparedness for autistic individuals and their caregivers, drawing from both professional expertise and lived experience. From trusted weather resources to emergency guidance, this informational session will help families feel more prepared and informed ahead of hurricane season.

Families may attend this free event in person or watch the event live on Family Initiative’s Facebook page. Skilled clinicians will provide onsite childcare during the event, allowing parents and caregivers the opportunity to fully participate in the discussion. Attendees will also have the chance to participate in giveaways and prizes throughout the program.
